FERVER and FEVE meet Korean delegation

The Korean delegation, composed of representatives of the Korean producer responsibility scheme and authorities, visited Europe to draw inspiration in order to improve their take back scheme and recycling targets. The Korean delegation paid special attention to the discussions regarding the European recycling definition.

Recycling means any recovery operation by which waste materials are reprocessed into products, materials or substances whether for the original or other purposes. This means that if someone recycles glass into aggregates, the operation will be considered as recycling. However, glass will be lost forever, while this material can be recycled a million times. The federations have proposed that the Commission reviews the recycling definition in order to integrate the aspect of “multiple recycling”.
